This is Narrow and Steep, the fourth single from the upcoming CD NARROW AND STEEP by San Franscisco based singer-songwriter Denny Brown.
Every 2-3 weeks a new single will be released in a RANDOM ORDER, each with its own unique cover, leading up to a full digital release later in the year. In addition, we will be releasing a few short films, both unplugged performances as well as music videos.

Single #12 Narrow and Steep
How do you resign yourself for doing things that you know are against your very core? When your family or friends demand the best of you? When you succumb to the pressures of society to ‘do the right thing’? I think that most of us have been on that road. A correct path where we want to stay true to ourselves but opt for the other defined by others of what the ‘truth or correct path‘ is. This is when the wide path of life becomes barely a trail - narrow and steep. We’ve all been there, where we have accepted the limits, the complications of just ‘living’ getting by or just surviving. In my mind, living is what we do and not necessarily what we want in life. It is the path of least resistance, a way to keep others happy, enough to stay along with us. This certainly reflects our self-interest. The decisions we make because they are easy under the circumstances can bring us regret and sorrow, not joy and happiness. We protect ourselves from remorse by resigning ourselves to and accepting the complications and limitations of a situation. The only way of escaping and recovery from the sorrow is to realize the difficulty of the trails of our lives which must be traveled.
This is my song Narrow and Steep and this is such a story: A man making a decision with the hope that his choices were not wrong or evil so that his soul may someday be saved. Life is challenging with so many ups and downs, one step forward and two steps back, but still worth walking on those difficult, narrow and steep paths.
